Franco Escamilla Houston Concert reviews
Terrible Venue. Parking Nightmare.
The venue, while boasting beautiful views from the arena, is not efficiently planned, prepared, or managed to accommodate over 20k visitors. We first encountered bumper-to-bumper event traffic on 65 on our way in, which was expected for a large event. However, the location and access to the venue aggravated the issue, resulting in us arriving an hour later than planned. Upon entering the property, a two-lane gravel road snakes through the area with narrow parking lots branching off to the left and right. There was no oversight on parking passes or traffic direction into specific lots, causing a bottleneck with interconnected lots sharing a single entrance/exit. Inside the venue, there were only porta-potties for restroom facilities and concessions were housed in tents. By the time we reached the crowded hill, we had to squeeze ourselves in, facing a glaring sun as the venue faces west. Despite the venue claiming to allow refills for reusable water bottles on site, we couldn't locate any refill stations. Furthermore, the lack of event staff and clear signage made it difficult to navigate the property. The performer, Franco Escamilla, took the stage 30 minutes late and ended the show prematurely by another 30 minutes, with the final song and fireworks scheduled for 6 PM. Attempting to leave early to avoid traffic, we ended up stuck in the parking lot congestion for two hours due to the absence of a traffic management system or staff coordination. The confusion and lack of preparedness from the staff further exacerbated the situation. It then took us an additional 30 minutes to reach 65, where we were met with more traffic, resulting in a disastrous experience overall.
